Hilariously enough, this is actually true.

Critics called it the most original film of the decade.

Reply from Oceana complaints dept.!

Not.

I’m complaining to Oceana.

Do you think this might have got my point across? Seriously not happy!

Dear Sir/Madam,

I attended your club on the night of the 20th of December (attempted to). At approximately 10.30pm I was approached on the way to Oceana by a club representative, promoting a £1 entry deal before 12am. Naturally, as I was heading towards Oceana, both myself and the group I was with intended on taking advantage of this promotion we were offered.

When we were approaching the front of the queue, a member of your bouncer/security team held out a megaphone and informed the line that ‘there are too many males in the club, therefore only groups with females or couples will be allowed entry tonight’. This was at approximately 11.45pm.

Sure enough, on approaching the front of the queue (before midnight!), we were denied entry on the grounds of ‘not being in the company of any females’.

I am a regular customer of your Oceana branch in Brighton and I have NEVER been subject to gender discrimination by the staff there. I take great offence that on attempting to enter your Watford branch, I was subjected to this.

I am therefore bringing to your attention my extreme dissatisfaction at how I was treated by your members of staff at your Watford branch on this night. I was not aware that Oceana operated a gender discrimination policy, and if this is the case I will be raising my complaint with the appropriate authorities. This is a country that tolerates all individuals, irrespective of gender, race, colour or creed, and to be turned away from your club with the excuse of being male is deeply offensive.

I am extremely disappointed with the behaviour and discrimination from your staff at the Watford branch. I am, on the whole, a satisfied regular customer of the Oceana clubbing network and to have this opinion tainted by a select branch is surely extremely concerning to yourselves.

I understand that the presence of a large male majority can cause the club to gain a bad reputation, but I do not believe it is appropriate for members of staff to pick and choose who they allow or deny entry to on the basis of gender.

I do hope you appreciate my deep and sincere concern and regret that a branch of your highly respected clubbing network was subject to such immature and disgusting discrimination.

I do hope to hear from you on what you decide to do about this unfortunate situation.

Regards,

Joel Fothergill
